Focus On:
Houston, TX
With a population of nearly two million people, Houston, Texas is one of the largest cities in the United States. It is also one of the newest and fastest growing. Houston is the center of a booming oil production business and international trade passing through the Houston ship canal, which links Houston to the Gulf of Mexico.

As part of a metropolitan area that covers 600 square miles and populated by nearly six million people, the city has a wide range of facilities and activities for residents and visitors to enjoy.

These include the Space Center Houston (the official visitor's center for NASA's Johnson Space Center), plus a variety of museums, the downtown aquarium, zoo, and Moody Gardens, which has its own museum and IMAX theater. In addition, there is horse and greyhound racing for gamblers, and music lovers can enjoy the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, which offers concerts from rock to opera.

If you're interested in history, don't miss the San Jacinto Battlegrounds, approximately 20 miles east of downtown Houston. This marks the spot where Texas gained independence from Mexico.

Houston is calling students with everything from history to business.
