Nashville's Healthcare Dominance
According to the Nashville Healthcare Council, there are currently 19 publicly traded healthcare companies based in Nashville, generating a total of $38 billion in annual revenue and $4.1 billion in payroll. This represents the greatest non-governmental source of payroll in the region. Healthcare companies based in Nashville employ upwards of 336,000 people worldwide.
Obviously, healthcare careers are big in Nashville, but does that mean healthcare education is the same? Yes! Obviously industry breeds a strong local academia, and Nashville is no exception. Vanderbilt University has a newly formed healthcare MBA program. Tennessee State University's nursing program is well known. There are well over a dozen healthcare education centers to explore.
Nashville: More than a Healthcare Education
If you decide to pursue your healthcare education in Nashville, you won't only be taking advantage of the healthcare opportunities. Nashville is known as the capital of country music, and each year the four-day CMA music festival kicks off in June. The Nashville film festival takes place every year in April, and is the largest film festival in the southeastern U.S.
