Focus On:
Charleston, SC
Situated on the Atlantic coast of the United States, Charleston, South Carolina, blends a fascinating history with everything you could want from a thriving city of today.

The city has served as an international port for 300 years, and its history is documented at the Charleston Museum (the first in the United States). You can also explore its history in Charleston's historic houses and commercial buildings, many of which are open to the public, or at Patriot's Point, one of the country's largest maritime museums.

You can also visit a number of historic military forts close to the city that have a rich history of their own. During the American Revolution, for example, Fort Moultrie was scene of the first decisive victory, while the island of Fort Sumter was where the Civil War began.

Today, Charleston is a thriving city that makes the most of its coastal location. With its long beaches and many small islands, it is a great place for fishing, sailing and other water sports. In addition it has many parks and gardens that cultivate and celebrate the plant life of the area.

From old to new, Charleston has something to offer every student.
