Las Vegas, Nevada might seem like an unlikely place to get your culinary training, but the city offers unbelievable benefits to anyone who wants to master the art of cooking. As the gaming capital of the world, Las Vegas has an endless supply of roadside diners, casino lounges, hotel restaurants, and everything in between. When it comes to five-star meals and gourmet selection, the restaurants in Las Vegas can rival even Manhattan or Los Angeles.

Vocational Training in the Culinary Arts

You don't need four years of formal education in order to master the art of cooking. There are plenty of associate's degree programs and vocational schools that can provide you with all of the skills you need to get into the restaurant industry. And in a city like Las Vegas, which seems to enjoy a never-ending supply of new restaurants and hotels, you'll have lots of opportunities to apply your classroom training to real-world situations.

What's more, if you land a good culinary job, you can often make more than your counterparts in other cities. Even basic line cooks in Las Vegas make an average of $14.00 an hour. In New York, they only make $13.50. That 50 cents may not sound like much, but it adds up to an extra $1,000 per year.

Other Reasons to Learn the Art of Cooking In Las Vegas

Employment security, career options, and salary potential are not the only reasons to get your vocational training in Las Vegas. There are countless other perks in a city that caters to entertainment, gambling, and tourism. Las Vegas is a fairly walthy city, despite having only 500,000 permanent residents. With a constant cash inflow from tourist dollars, the city can afford to provide numerous services such as well-paved roads, strong education programs, clean air, and low crime rates.

And of course, Las Vegas residents get to see some of the biggest names in music, television, and film all year round. Everyone from Jerry Seinfeld to Shakira to Arnold Schwarzenegger passes through this mega-metropolis at one time or another. If you'd like to do some stargazing as you master the art of cooking, even Hollywood might not measure up to what Las Vegas has to offer.
