Last April, work began on the 282,000-square foot, $800 million Science and Technology Park at the Johns Hopkins medical complex, which will house labs and research space for several biotech firms. It's a step toward making Baltimore a national hub for medicine and biotechnology.

The "Charm City" is already home to world-class medical facilities. U.S. News & World Report ranks the Johns Hopkins Hospital #1 in the nation; the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore came in 18th for kidney disease, and 30th for eye, nose and throat conditions. According to Ophthalmology Times, the Wilmer Eye Institute is the best ophthalmology program in the country, and heart specialists at the Johns Hopkins Heart Institute were awarded $12 million by the National Institutes of Health to study stem cell therapies in the treatment of heart disease.

Those looking to begin a career in medical administration should look no further than Baltimore.

Your Medical Administration Program

Medical administration is one of the only medical degrees that you can complete in two years or less. Upon completion of your medical administration program, you'll be qualified to work in several health care administration jobs, such as a medical records and health information technician, coding specialist, or a medical transcriptionist.

Earning one of these medical degrees in Baltimore puts you in front of thousands of health care employers looking to fill these administration jobs.

Baltimore is the Right Prescription

While you're completing one of these medical office degrees, you'll enjoy Baltimore's rich offerings. Take in the renowned Inner Harbor district. Dine on the world-famous crabs. Visit the National Aquarium, Maryland's largest tourist attraction. Attend an Orioles game at Camden Yards, or the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. And enjoy the cool ocean breezes of the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
