Baton Rouge, LA
Baton Rouge celebrated its 300th birthday in 1999, and since its founding a great many influences have shaped the Baton Rouge of today. The name "Baton Rouge" means "Red Stick" in French, indicating the origins and cultural influence of the area.
The French heritage of the city is apparent in its arts, entertainment, festivals, and restaurants, just as it is in its Mississippi neighbor, New Orleans. But there's even more to the city, in terms of the cultural mix and diversity of entertainment and facilities.
With world-class facilities supporting a number of renowned colleges and universities, excellent nightlife, cultural attractions, and a vibrant student community, Baton Rouge and its surrounding area is a great base to visit all of Louisiana's major population centers, historical sites, festivals and other places of interest. |
