From the local news to Major League Baseball, Atlanta offers a multitude of opportunities for those with career education in video production from one of the area's art schools.

The Georgia capital is a veritable hotbed of television and film activity. Atlanta has all the standard network affiliate stations - a local ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, UPN, and new My Network station (formerly WB), most of which air their own locally-produced newscasts. Atlanta also hosts two public broadcasting stations. Plus, Turner Broadcasting calls Atlanta home; the media giant operates CNN, TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, the Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and all Braves baseball television production. Plus, Atlanta boasts hundreds of independent film and video production houses and educational institutions that produce a wide variety of educational and marketing/advertising video productions.

Working in Video Production

Video production is an exciting, fast-paced career that calls heavily upon your creative talents and your ability to communicate effectively. A job in video production may involve camera work, assembling and organizing a wide variety of video pieces, composing a story of these pieces, using computerized editing equipment to tell that story, and even using some special effects and graphics work to fine-tune the finished product. You might be creating news or sports segments, commercials, public service announcements, educational videos or full-length programs, in any number of styles.

When you study video production in one of Atlanta's art schools, you'll get hands-on training in camera operation, lighting, linear and non-linear editing equipment and techniques, graphic design, scriptwriting, color and design theory, live television production, and project management.
