The results of a recent study by the International Spa Association (ISPA) found that 88% of spa-goers treat themselves to massage therapy. And the most popular destination for a spa vacation? California.

Spa-goers are also wealthy: a full 47% have an annual household income of at least $100,000. And many of them are spending their money in Napa-Sonoma wine country, one of California's leading attractions, which offers an abundance of resort spas.

Massage Therapy Training in Petaluma

Getting your massage therapy training at a Petaluma area local college is a good idea for several reasons.
  • You'll graduate from one of these local colleges with training that qualifies you to practice massage therapy in California, the most popular destination in the country for those seeking massage therapy.
  • Employment for those with massage therapy training is projected to grow faster than average through 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as healthcare practitioners increasingly embrace massage therapy as a viable form of treatment.
  • Baby Boomers, the most populous and affluent segment of society, are those most likely to seek massage therapy as they age. American Demographics magazine found Petaluma to be Baby Boomers' top choice of where to settle.

Petaluma, the Perfect Choice

While earning your massage therapy training at one of the Petaluma area's local colleges, you'll taste some of California's finest offerings. Located in Sonoma County's wine country, Petaluma is an ideal home base for enjoying the area's 140 wineries, the Point Reyes National Seashore, and the world-renowned redwood forests. Meanwhile, you're only 39 miles from San Francisco, and you'll enjoy a vibrant historical and cultural experience in Petaluma's charming downtown.

Temperatures in Petaluma are about as perfect as can be--they range from 35 to 60 degrees in winter, and 65 to 85 degrees in summer; the average humidity is just 66%.

So you'll see first-hand why this area is tops for tourists, and why massage therapy training at one of Petaluma's local colleges makes good sense.
