Vancouver is the third largest film center in North America. According to the BC Film Commission, 35,000 people in the city of Vancouver alone are employed in the film industry. The Vancouver film and video industry contributes almost 1.5 billion dollars to the B.C. economy each year.

Over the past 10 years, the BC film industry has grown at an annual rate of 21 percent. It has attracted the attention of big production studios such as Lion's Gate, Paramount, and more.

Hollywood North in an Idyllic Setting

Both Vancouver and Toronto are known as "Hollywood North"; however, Vancouver's closer proximity to Los Angeles allows it to grow at an even quicker pace. Another contributor to the growth in the local film environment is the Vancouver Film Institute, a renowned film school with digital film and video production courses.

The Life of a Vancouver Film Student

If you attend film school in Vancouver, you also have the advantage of living in a vibrant and cosmopolitan city within close proximity to ski resorts and the nearby island of Victoria. Plus it's just a two-hour drive from Seattle.

If you think a film education in Vancouver would be a nice fit, it will give you an excuse to tour one of the most beautiful cities in North America.
