Business is Booming in Alberta, Canada

When the Winter Olympics were held in Calgary in 1988, the Canadian city was still relatively unknown in most international business circles. Since that time, however, the local population has grown by more than 250,000 residents, making Calgary, Alberta an extremely attractive place for career-minded business professionals.

Business School in Calgary

Currently, Calgary has over one million residents in its metropolitan area--yet it has remained a popular destination for ecotourists and environmentalists. However, Alberta has much more to offer than the great outdoors. With high-tech industries, broadband connectivity, international air traffic, and a booming petroleum industry, Calgary has emerged as a major business center. It brings the two coasts together in much the same way that Chicago has helped unify the neighboring United States. Students interested in any aspect of business administration (from the assistant level all the way up to the executive level) can find suitable degree programs in this quickly growing urban center.

Becoming a Business Administrative Assistant

The business world isn't just for MBA students. It's possible to gain impressive credentials at the associate level as well. Your coursework might focus on areas such as:
  • data management
  • word processing
  • Internet research
  • basic HTML
  • communications
  • event planning
  • marketing
  • business administration
  • economics
  • accounting

After two years of academic study in a business administrative assistant program, most graduates are qualified to work in a wide variety of professional environments, including corporate offices, law firms, healthcare facilities and local government agencies.

As Calgary's importance in the global economy continues to rise, the importance of its business administrative assistants will increase too. In addition, those who graduate from business administrative assistant programs can expect the current median salary of $35,000 a year (USD) to keep pace with rising demand for their expertise.
